Weather

21/01/2024

There are currently weather warnings out for Cumbria - Yellow warnings for rain and wind, but most notably, an Amber warning for wind from 1800 Sunday until 0900 Monday.

You can keep an eye on those here:

It is expected that Flood Alerts will go out across much Cumbria, and possibly also some Flood Warnings.

You can view current warnings (and river levels) on this map:

Although the worst of the wind is expected to be over by midnight, much of the work to clear roads of fallen trees and other debris won't be able to take place until it becomes light on Monday morning - so travel might take rather longer on Monday morning. It'll certainly be worth checking for problems on the roads before setting off to travel to work......

Other impacts are expected to include a lot of surface water on roads (over the whole weekend), and also some power cuts as a result of the wind on Sunday night (which, again, may well not be able to repaired until daylight on Monday).
