Storm Isha

22/01/2024

It was certainly a windy night, with lots of damage to roofs and sheds, and lots of trees and debris (and water) on the roads.

Many roads are now back to normal, but there are still a few closures as trees get cleared - but there is a risk of ice on the roads overnight tonight (the gritters will be out.......)

The more significant road closures should be listed here: Traffic - Cumbria Constabulary although many minor roads may also be affected.

The main concern this morning is loss of power - you can check the areas known to be affected on ENWL website:

Fault list (enwl.co.uk)

Around 37,000 properties in Cumbria have been off power at least briefly - at 0900 this morning, around 8,000 were still off power, mainly in North Cumbria.

Many faults are currently showing a restoration time of 1700 tomorrow - this is a holding position until engineers make it to the scene, and establish how tricky the repairs will be (and the website will be updated when that's known - some customers will have power restored by remote switching to another supply route, others will be a straightforward fix on scene, but some are likely to require more work.

If people are off power and ENWL don't seem to be aware of this, then they should report it by dialing 105
